All That Went Right

Let’s pretend it hasn’t been a few weeks since I blogged, and let’s pretend everything that kept me from blogging was wonderful and thrilling. πŸ˜‰

I’ve found myself tempted lately to complain about 2016 and the insanity it brought. When a crazy year ends, we have the tendency to focus on how much went wrong. Our little family had our fair share of obstacles, annoyances, and just plain bad days this year, but I’ve felt convicted this week about focusing on what went wrong instead of thanking the Lord for all that went right! Yes, we’re gonna party when December 31st rolls around and we can wave goodbye to 2016 πŸ˜‰ but I’m slowing myself down this week to cherish all the good memories and blessings that filled this year.

And thus, here’s all that has gone right the last few crazy weeks. πŸ˜‰

Andrew and I had a little getaway to Dallas in early December, and it was fab.

This pizza fondue from Fireside Pies is probably the thing that has gone most right this month. PLEASE Lord, let a Fireside Pies find its way to Oklahoma.

We had a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse gift card from Mom and Dad, and we finally got to use it! The steak was great, but I wanted another twelve helpings of the mashed potatoes. 😍

Dallas does Christmas right. ✨

We carbo-loaded at Original Pancake House in preparation for IKEA.

Has anyone ever taken a nap on one of their couches? Did you get kicked out or was it welcomed? Asking for a friend.

It took all my strength to not buy one of each of these giant animals for Henry.

I picked up a cute guy in the cafe. πŸ˜‰

Dining chair set is complete. Bank account is empty.

There is nothing better than Jesus + Jackers time. πŸ’• I’m a few chapters away from finishing the whole Bible (embarrassingly for the first time in my life), and Jack has seemed to really enjoy the reading sessions. ☺️

I lied when I told Andrew I wouldn’t post this photo of him having serious struggles with gift wrapping. He is so flippin cute. πŸ˜‚Β (Side note, we’re obsessed with Monk lately.)

The weekend before last was spent at the Indie Trunk show with some of my work besties. πŸ’•

And Gabby, Kate, and I rocked the unintentional matching military jackets.

I started training Henry on photo posing when Andrew and I babysat him a few nights ago.

He’s a pro now. πŸ˜‰

I love this nugget so much.

My heart. πŸ’™

We finally tried Mahogany Steakhouse with these babes!

This picture may seem worthless, but may I point out that Mahogany graces you with INDIVIDUAL butter tubs for your bread. I’ve never been more impressed.

We got to meet the newest member of our work family last week! Baby Colbi was super excited about our selfie. ❀️

Speaking of work family, allow me a second to brag on these hilarious, precious girls. I love them! WeΒ may or may not have made an ice cream run in 40 degree weather.

And I’m pretty sure Michaela and I were separated at birth. She shares my obsession of goldfish and Reese’s, and we even have almost-matching engagement rings! πŸ’

The thing that’s gone the most right this year? This man. πŸ’™Β He is the most supportive husband and the best friend ever.

Jack likes him too.

Hope you all have the most wonderful Christmas week, full of things going right! πŸ˜‰πŸŽ„πŸ˜˜

The past few days have been delightfully lazy and refreshing. It’s been a while since we’ve had the joy of sitting at home doing absolutely nothing, and it has me super ready for Christmas. πŸ˜‰ This year has been a little more challenging than most, but it has left us feeling so very thankful.

And now – a giant heap of photos of all the things for which I’m most thankful. πŸ˜‰

Breakfast dates at Kitchen 324 with these cuties.

Fall colors finally showing up. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

FOOD. Andrew and I are on a strict diet this week because we have eaten like absolute monsters the past several days.

Hatch is definitely a new favorite of ours!

The hashbrown tumblers were insane.

More food.

More sugar.

More carbs.

We had such a fun work dinner at Longhorn last week. I love these faces!

Andrew is most thankful for his wife because she discovered the TV he wanted was on sale before Black Friday so we didn’t have to be trampled to death or wait in line. 😏

Jack made us take 8,700 pictures in the backyard Thanksgiving morning before we gotΒ these mediocre family pics. πŸ˜‚

I’m obsessed with these people. ❀️

Love. Them.

We were missing our favorite grandma who was home resting, but it was lovely to finally have some family time! πŸ’•

Henry knows the meaning of life.

We finally celebrated this little cutie’s birthday.

Black Friday was spent shopping from my sofa and watching Harry Potter while Andrew worked and Alyssa baked cookies in my kitchen.

And napped with my dog.

Jack’s Christmas spirit started out a little lacking.

Theeeere we go.

We’ve managed to do most of the decorating – now we’re just trying to catch up on Christmas shopping.

I got to hang with this kiddo Saturday, and it was the best. He’s at such a fun age.

Those teeth!

Yes, this is how he fell asleep because he’s perfect.

I’m most thankful for this handsome man – the one who started our Thanksgiving day with a prayer before we left the house, the one who brought me breakfast in bed this morning just because, and the one who endured a long walk in the cold because I was feeling so large after all the feasts. πŸ˜‰ I’m obsessed with him. 😍

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! πŸ™‚

Some Random Thoughts

Anyone else freaking out a little bit that November is halfway over?? I have so much left to do this year!! 😬

I’m afraid I’m still buried beneath the weight of work and constantly editing photos, but I am finally seeing a beautiful light at the end of the tunnel. In just a few weeks, I will be done with shoots and editing and the busy craziness I let myself get caught under this year, and I AM SO EXCITED. πŸ˜‰ I’m planning on taking a substantial break from the CaitPhoto world at the beginning of 2017, and I am so looking forward to rekindling my love for Netflix and naps. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Until that blessed time when I can blog more frequently, here are some random thoughts that sum up the last few weeks. πŸ™‚

-Dieting is soooo much harder in the fall / winter.

-Oklahoma weather is responsible for 90% of my anxiety as a photographer.

-My best friend and my baby sister both have more patience and kindness than the rest of the world combined. They helped us pull these off at 8 in the morning. Jack looks much more well-behaved than he actually was that day.

-John Mayer is releasing a newΒ album soon, and that is the greatest news I’ve heard in November.

-I am unfathomably excited for Thanksgiving. I’ve been dreaming of mashed potatoes for weeks. πŸ˜€

-Daylight savings is evil. Darkness makes me sleep no matter the time.

-The election aftermath has made my tummy anxious. There is sooo much hate on both sides, and the peacemaker in me can’t. deal. I just want everyone to share a pizza and hug.

-Our little work family celebrated a baby on the way for one of our girls, and we had queso and laughter galore. I love these faces!

Β -Andrew and I got Andy’s Frozen Custard twice in two days. And Hideaway pizza. I have no regrets.

-We took Tanner & Gabby’s engagement pictures this past weekend, and I have all the heart eyes. 😍

I loves them.

-Jack says hi.

Have a happy week, friends! πŸ™‚
